Donation and Reduction Resources
Here are some local places I use to redistribute to the community and reduce landfill waste. This is not an exhaustive list, and I will be adjusting it as needed.
Donation Resources
When looking for donation locations I try to stick to local non-profits as much as possible. This way your donations stay in the community. I typically try to match them with the best fit based on the overall donation, but if you have a favorite, we can work with that.
Local Buy Nothing Group
This is a FB swap group that lists items for free to members who live in a local area. This group is great because you know the item(s) is going to someone who will actually use it. It is also the most time intensive.
ReachOout Lakota
Our mission at Reach Out Lakota is to give a helping hand up to those living in West Chester/Liberty Township by putting help and hope into the hands of our community.
Indigo Hippo
We operate as an Arts Supply Thrift Store & Creative Reuse center. We offer pay-what-you-can pricing and divert materials where they are most needed.
YWCA in Hamilton
Women come to us in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence. They come for job training and career counseling. They come for childcare. They come for health and fitness. They come for a variety of reasons. But they come. And they leave with a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives.
New Life Furniture Bank & Thrift Store
Non-Profit Est. in 2006 that provides furniture and household items to those in need. They also have a thrift store that takes donations. Money goes to supplies and transportation for the picking up, delivering, and sometimes building of furniture.
Clutter 2 Care
Clutter 2 Care’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty among low-income students in Southwest Ohio by leveraging community–based partnerships and a thrift store boutique to turn clutter into care, dignity, and hope.
Matthew 25: Ministries
The mission of Matthew 25: Ministries is to fulfill Matthew 25:34-40 of the New Testament by providing nutritional food to the hungry, clean water to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, affordable shelter to the homeless, medical care to the ill, and humanitarian supplies to those in need. Additionally, Matthew 25: Ministries is committed to fulfilling Matthew 25:40 by educating the public on the conditions and needs of the “least of these” and by providing resources for action.
Reduction Resources
When donation isn't an option, recycling is recommended whenever possible. Below are a few local options.
