So, I always thought I was fairly good at cleaning. Maybe not the best at keeping my house picked up, but when it was time to clean, it shone. As an adult who now cleans for a living, there are certain blind spots I have discovered I had, and most people have in their homes.
So Tip #1- Here it is- The Over-the-Range Microwave..dun..dun..dun
Most people know that one has to clean the inside of the microwave when something spills. **cough cough** Looking at you anonymous co-worker **cough cough** However, a lot of people miss the underside of their microwave. Though, it doesn't seem to do much, this section catches a ton of grease and smells and dust. It builds up over time and can cause lingering odors, yummy fruit fly fodder, and clogged screens for that exhaust fan that does practically nothing.
The good news is it is a simple fix. The screens easily slide out of their home. Either spray with some Dawn Powerwash (recommended) or soak in some hot soapy water for a bit. Then, gently scrub with an old toothbrush or other gentle scrub brush. They will look good as new. These screens are easily bent, so be gently with them. The rest of the underside of the microwave usually cleans up easily with your preferred multipurpose de-greaser, cleanser, watered down Dawn, or , if it is really bad, Dawn Powerwash.
